Hall School Wimbledon

Educatus received such a warm welcome from Hall School Wimbledon in March, a school we recommend to many of our families relocating to southwest London.

What we love about HSW is their inclusive approach particularly in an area with many selective, single-sex schools that are just not available for families arriving outside of standard entry points.

Whilst offering everything that you might expect from a more inclusive and non-selective school, Hall School Wimbledon is growing and looking to the future under the guidance of its dynamic head teacher Mr Andrew Hammond. On our tour we saw polite and friendly children, and wonderful touches to showcase individual achievements as well as the school’s sense of community. We came away feeling that the school’s values of Health & Self Worth, Positive well-being, Fellowship, Individuality, and Intellectual Curiosity, are truly valued and reflected at this small school.

Since the change of ownership in 2018 the school has made improvements to its classroom facilities, a new block has been built on-site and there are plans for expansion in the future. In their 2019 Ofsted inspection the school gained an overall rating of Good, and their Early years provision was rated Outstanding. The school now benefits from being part of the Chatsworth family of schools.

Whilst complex needs cannot always be supported, it is clear that children with SEN or EAL needs are welcome, and the Ofsted inspection reported that children with SEN or EAL do as well as their peers with the support that is in place.

The school recently stopped offering pre-prep and classes now start from year 3 onwards. HSW will also welcome sixth formers for the first time this September and will offer a combination of A-level and BTEC qualifications.

HSW can be found in a quiet residential area of Wimbledon, within walking distance of Wimbledon Station and Raynes Park tube station.

A large playground space fronts the period red brick building and students make use of a second site, Oberon Fields, comprising nine acres of space for sports and outdoor pursuits.

Overall, we at The Educatus Explorer find Hall School Wimbledon to be a school that embraces inclusivity and offers a well-rounded education. With its commitment to growth, community, and individual development, HSW provides a nurturing environment for students to thrive academically, socially, and personally.
